Welcome to Bound Brook!

Bound Brook is a historic and vibrant community where residents can live, work, play, and connect.

Located along the Raritan River in Somerset County, Bound Brook is a close-knit borough of approximately 1.6 square miles and 10,600 residents. First settled in the late 1600s, the Borough is bordered by Middle Brook to the west and Green Brook—also historically known as the Bound Brook—to the east.

A Small Town with Big Connections

Bound Brook combines the character and convenience of a small town with easy access to the cultural, employment, and transportation opportunities of the greater New York metropolitan area.

The Borough features a walkable downtown and convenient transportation options, including the NJ TRANSIT Raritan Valley Line, Interstate 287, Route 22, and Route 28/Union Avenue. These connections make Bound Brook an attractive community for residents, commuters, visitors, and businesses alike.

A Community with Something for Everyone

Throughout the year, Bound Brook brings residents and visitors together through community celebrations, recreational programs, cultural activities, and special events. From seasonal festivals and outdoor activities to the Memorial Day Parade, Battle of Bound Brook reenactment, Movies in the Park, Halloween festivities, and holiday celebrations, there are many opportunities to experience the community and connect with neighbors.

Residents can also enjoy local youth and adult recreation programs, parks, playgrounds, and community swimming pools during the summer.

Bound Brook's railroad heritage also makes the Borough a popular destination for rail enthusiasts who visit the area to watch and photograph trains traveling through the historic downtown station.

History, Culture & Recreation

Bound Brook's rich history can be seen throughout the community. The historic Bound Brook Memorial Library serves as an important community resource, offering traditional library services along with educational, cultural, and community programming.

Adjacent to the library is the historic Presbyterian Cemetery, where gravestones date back to the 1700s and veterans of the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and other conflicts are laid to rest.

The Raritan River is another defining feature of the Borough, providing scenic views and opportunities for outdoor recreation, including fishing and kayaking. The historic Queens Bridge offers a picturesque connection across the river and serves as one of the community's recognizable landmarks.
