ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) is a board of nine residents and business owners who research and advise the Borough Council on matters related to economic development in Bound Brook. Since it was established in May 2007, the EDAC developed a new sign ordinance and an informational sign brochure for business owners; made recommendations on revisions to the land use ordinance; provided oversight to the downtown business coordinator; and collaborated with Regional Plan Association on the development of a Transit Oriented Design Plan (TOD), entitled "Bound Brook Downtown Urban Design Plan", for the downtown area. EDAC members also work to promote community events in the downtown including the successful Riverfest street fair in October.
The EDAC is proud to have completed the TOD Plan, which was endorsed by Borough Council and adopted into Bound Brook's Master Plan by the Planning Board in December 2010. Members of EDAC received a planning award from the Somerset County Planning Board for the content and quality of this plan. Next steps for EDAC regarding the TOD plan are to work on finding partners and funding sources to start implementing the goals of the plan.
EDAC has also begun an initiative to recruit new members to the committee. If you are interested in being part of Borough advancement and community events that will help Bound Brook to grow economically, contact Kerry Miller, Chairperson, through the Borough offices.
The EDAC meets the second Monday of each month, 7:30 at Borough Hall.
